Breast enlargement – a step towards greater well-being
Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic procedures. There are many reasons for that. It may be necessary if, for example, breast cancer operations have led to asymmetries or if breasts that are too small are causing you psychological distress. You can also use it to satisfy your aesthetic sense of your own body.

Breast enlargement involves the use of implants that increase the volume. This requires cuts in the skin that are made in different parts of the body, depending on the surgical method. Every operation involves certain risks. These include problems with wound healing or subsequent bleeding. A specific risk when using implants is capsular fibrosis, which occurs in around 20 percent of breast enlargements. Your doctor cannot guarantee that these risks will not occur. However, you can take out follow-up cost insurance with beautyprotect and adhere to the following instructions.

Advice on preparing for breast enlargement
To prepare for your breast enlargement, please follow these guidelines Your doctor's instructions. In general, ours apply to this as to any other operation “Cosmetic surgery” overview page. Here we list the most important ones again:

  • If you are taking anticoagulant medication for medical reasons, these must be replaced with heparin injections approximately two weeks before breast enlargement.
  • In contrast, various flu or painkillers as well as alcohol have a blood-thinning effect. Make sure that you stop taking these medications at least two weeks before your appointment.
  • Smoking reduces blood flow to the tissue, which can impair the healing process. Avoid nicotine at least two weeks before the appointment and around four weeks afterwards.
  • Remember not to eat anything after 10 p.m. the day before breast enlargement.
  • On the day of the operation, take a shower and wash your hair. We also recommend shaving the armpits, no matter which surgical method is used.
  • Avoid body lotion. The pen markings for breast enlargement do not stick well to the fat contained in it.
  • Wear loose clothing and avoid contact lenses on this day.
Organization of transport, household and childcare
Breast enlargement will restrict your movement - so make sure someone can be there for you in the first two days after the operation if needed.
Small children will not be able to tease you. Make sure you get the necessary support here too. Think about things that can make everyday life easier for you after the operation - such as food that can be prepared quickly, comfortable clothing, free time without appointments, etc.

What you should consider after breast enlargement
Be prepared for swelling and feelings of tension after the operation. These can sometimes last several weeks, which is why you usually only see the final results at the end of this time after your breast enlargement. Aftercare primarily consists of gentle and supportive measures. Here are our tips:

  • If you have had wound drains placed, these will usually be removed the next day or within four days after the breast enlargement.
  • Initially, sterile and soft bandages are placed over your breast until the stitches are removed approximately 10 to 14 days after the operation.
  • After the stitches are removed, you can shower or bathe as normal again.
  • For the first few days to weeks, sleep on your back and, if possible, with your upper body slightly elevated. This will prevent swelling and bruising.
  • Depending on your individual risk, you will receive thrombosis prophylaxis in the first few days after breast enlargement.
  • The compression bra will be your constant companion day and night for four to six weeks.
  • We then advise you to continue wearing the compression bra every day for another two to three weeks. You can take it off at night.
  • Take it easy and avoid lifting heavy loads in the first few weeks after your breast enlargement.
  • Do not extend your arms past your shoulders, this could cause pain and tension.
  • You can start exercising again about six weeks after breast enlargement.
  • Please remain patient if you experience localized numbness, which often occurs in the nipples. Sensation usually returns in the first few months after breast enlargement.
  • Avoid exposing your skin to UV rays from the sun or tanning beds until your scars are no longer red. Otherwise they may turn dark. Protect yourself with opaque clothing and/or a high sun protection factor.
