The liposuction

Where sport and nutrition reach their limits, liposuction is an attractive alternative for more and more women and men. It is said to help you get a firm bottom, firm thighs and a flat stomach. It is also an effective treatment method for lipedema.

Liposuction for beautiful proportions
Clear lines, slim shape – that is the goal of liposuction. There are places on the body that you simply can't get to with a change in diet or exercise. If you don't want to put up with this situation, liposuction, which has relatively few complications, can help. It is also used to treat lipedema, an illness-related accumulation of fat deposits that is only paid for by health insurance after a certain stage.

Liposuction takes place under either general or local anesthesia, depending on where and how much fat needs to be removed. Sometimes the skin is tightened during the operation. In principle, fat can be removed from any part of the body. Common areas include the stomach, hips, legs or chin. There are various procedures for liposuction, the most commonly used is the tumescent technique. The treating doctor injects a liquid mixture of sterile water, anesthetic, sodium carbonate and cortisone under the skin using fine cannulas. After 30 minutes to an hour, the liquid takes effect: the fat cells detach from the tissue and can be suctioned out via the cannulas. The small incisions in the skin are then stitched up. The final result is visible after about four to six weeks.

Liposuction is considered a very safe operation with few risks. The most common situation is that patients are not satisfied with the result and have to repeat the treatment. More serious are discomfort or numbness. Fat embolisms or fatty tissue necrosis, i.e. dying tissue, are rare.

In order to be prepared for any eventuality, we recommend taking out insurance from beautyprotect.

Advice on preparing for liposuction
Liposuction primarily serves to adjust body proportions. It should not be a weight loss measure for you. Therefore, make sure that any diets have been completed before the operation and that you have already changed your diet, if necessary.

  • To support wound healing after liposuction, you should avoid nicotine and alcohol a few weeks before your appointment - as well as blood-thinning agents such as painkillers or sleeping pills.
  • If you need to take anticoagulant or anticoagulant medication due to illness, discuss this with your doctor.
  • Don't go on crash diets before your liposuction. Losing weight too quickly can lead to sagging skin.
  • If your liposuction takes place under general anesthesia, you should be fasting - i.e. not eating anything after 10 p.m. the evening before the procedure.
  • Apply for leave well in advance of your liposuction. Depending on the extent of the operation, you will stay in the hospital for a day to a week. If you are being treated as an outpatient, you should also take it easy for at least a week.
What you should consider after liposuction
After liposuction, you will be fit again relatively quickly because, although the procedure is invasive, it is a routine procedure for most doctors and they treat your body very gently and carefully during the various procedures.

  • Immediately after liposuction, you should only expect slight pain and bruising, but this will subside within a few days to weeks.
  • Any swelling should also have subsided within three months.
  • Avoid exercise in the first few weeks after liposuction. Massages or excessive stress on the treated areas are also not recommended.
  • Wear the girdles, support stockings or bandages around the clock for approximately six weeks after the operation. This prevents blood, dissolved fat or tissue fluid from accumulating in the vacuumed cavities. This could lead to scarring.
  • Good blood circulation speeds up the healing process. We recommend cold or alternating showers.
  • Heat, on the other hand, has a more negative effect on healing, so you should avoid solariums, sun or saunas for around four weeks.
