Calf enlargement

with calf implants
Beautiful legs include beautiful calves. Sporty training can bring a lot. Where it reaches its limits, surgical calf enlargement using calf implants helps to improve the contour - a procedure that is primarily used by men.

Calf implants for beautifully shaped legs
While women prefer slim contours, men consider stately, muscular bodies to be the ideal of beauty, a sign of strength and health. Narrow calves that peek out of your shorts in the summer can be quite deceptive. One reason why men choose silicone calf implants. They are intended to give the lower legs the desired contour.

To insert the calf implants, the aesthetic plastic surgeon makes a short incision below the back of the knee. Another cut into the muscle fascia, the fibrous covering of the muscle, creates a kind of pocket into which the implant is placed above or below the muscle. Depending on the patient's wishes, two calf implants can be inserted per leg.

After the use of calf implants, the usual risks of an aesthetic procedure can occur, such as bleeding, hematomas, inflammation or sensory disorders. These usually subside after some time. Complications such as implant slippage, capsular fibrosis or asymmetries require follow-up treatments. In this case, you should urgently take out follow-up cost insurance. With beautyprotect we cover the costs of corrections so that you can fully concentrate on your recovery.

Advice on preparing for calf enlargement
If you have decided to have calf implants, the operation is usually carried out on an inpatient basis, only in a few cases on an outpatient basis. Plan to spend a night in the clinic and take the following precautions to prepare for the procedure:

  • Stop taking blood-thinning medications two weeks before having calf implants. These include aspirin, painkillers or sleeping pills and some vitamin preparations.
  • Take care of your health before surgery. If you have a cold or other infection, the operation would have to be postponed.
  • Stop smoking about two weeks before having calf implants and try not to smoke for at least two weeks after surgery. This reduces the risk of wound healing problems.
  • Make sure you don't eat anything about six hours before the operation so that you are fasted for the procedure and can tolerate the anesthesia better.
  • Expect to take two weeks off after the calf implants are inserted and, if necessary, take vacation for this period.
  • Ask someone close to you to be there to look after and monitor you for the first 24 hours.
What you should consider after using calf implants
After the use of calf implants, pain is normal and resembles slightly more sore muscles. If you tolerated the operation and anesthesia well, you can go home one day later at the latest. We have the following recommendations for the period that follows:

  • After an initial shaping bandage, you should wear the prescribed compression stockings for two to three weeks to prevent swelling and keep the calf implants in shape.
  • Avoid putting more strain on your calf muscles in the first few weeks. For example, don't go on long walks. You should only start exercising again after six weeks at the earliest.
  • You can usually shower normally after a few days. However, avoid full baths and heat (such as a sauna or similar) for a few weeks until all swelling has gone down.
  • To care for your scars, we recommend moisturizing skin ointments that you can easily massage in.
  • Protect your scars from UV radiation from the sun or tanning beds for at least six months to prevent them from turning dark.
