The breast lift – for an uplifting feeling
A breast lift will permanently and significantly change the shape and appearance of your breasts - and that's exactly what you want. Due to the aging process, significant weight loss or pregnancy, your skin has lost its elasticity. She is sagging and her chest hangs heavily. This condition of your breasts can affect you in more than just a physical way. Many women feel inhibited in their external image and often see a breast lift as a solution.

Unlike a breast reduction, a breast lift does not remove any glandular tissue, but usually only skin. Depending on how much excess skin there is, the incisions are made: around the nipple to move it upwards, lengthwise under the nipple and, if necessary, an incision in the fold under the breast. Although scars cannot be avoided with good suturing technique, they are hardly visible later.

A breast lift can cause side effects such as bruising or bleeding, as well as infections that can lead to wound healing problems. It is not uncommon for numbness to occur, especially in the nipples, but this usually goes away over time. Asymmetries are also not uncommon and may require further interventions. In this case, take out our beautyprotect follow-up cost insurance. We will then cover the costs for further treatments.

Advice on preparing for a breast lift
To ensure that your breast lift is successful, have detailed discussions with your treating doctor in advance. You should agree on the expected result and have all the details clear. Also note our general information to prepare for the operation.

  • A breast lift only makes sense once your family planning has been completed. Firstly, the breast could sink again after breastfeeding again, and secondly, the ability to breastfeed could be impaired by the surgical techniques.
  • If the last pregnancy has ended and you have stopped breastfeeding, you should wait at least eight months before the breast lift so that the breast returns to its “normal” state.
  • Stop taking anticoagulant or blood-thinning medications two weeks before the breast lift. Unless it is medically necessary, which you should discuss with your doctor.
  • Do not drink alcohol and avoid nicotine (before and after the operation) as this could have a negative impact on wound healing after the breast lift.
  • To ensure that you are fasting for the operation, do not eat anything after 10 p.m. the evening before.
  • If you are not staying in the clinic overnight after your breast lift, please arrange for someone to look after you the first night.
  • For the recovery period, we recommend that you take vacation in good time, at least for two weeks.
What you should consider after the breast lift
It goes without saying that you should take it easy after your breast lift. In general, avoid strenuous exertion in the first six weeks. However, light walks in the fresh air can work wonders. What else you should pay attention to, read here:

  • You can usually shower normally after a few days after the breast lift, at the latest as soon as the stitches have been removed.
  • Avoid large movements with your arms as this can put tension on the breast or scars.
  • Sleep on your back with your upper body slightly elevated, if possible. How to relieve pressure on your chest area.
  • You should wear your compression bra around the clock for the first four to six weeks. This protects your breasts on the one hand and helps shape the breasts and heal the seams on the other.
  • Exercise will be good for you about six weeks after your breast lift, provided you start gently and carefully.
  • To ensure that your scars heal properly, i.e. so that they are no longer visible, you should avoid UV radiation from the sun or solarium for six months.
